Elizabeth Schultz, AICP, is a Professor of Practice in the College of Architecture, Planning & Design at Kansas State University, where she brings a wealth of professional experience and a deep passion for lifelong learning to her teaching and mentorship. Her work is guided by a belief that thoughtful design and community-minded planning have the power to improve people’s lives and strengthen the connections between individuals, places, and the environment.

As an educator, Schultz thrives on sharing her expertise with students, encouraging them to recognize how architecture, urban design, and planning influence the human experience. Her teaching philosophy centers on fostering curiosity, collaboration, and creativity—helping students develop the critical thinking and leadership skills needed to make meaningful contributions to the built environment.

Before entering academia, Schultz served as Director of Strategic Initiatives & Community Development and as a Project Manager, roles that honed her skills in project coordination, public engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration. These experiences deepened her commitment to helping others reach their potential and to advancing inclusive, sustainable approaches to planning and design. Her volunteerism and mentorship work continue to reflect her conviction that education is most powerful when it is shared and applied collaboratively.

A licensed Architect (NCARB) and certified Community Planner (AICP) since 2016, Schultz has contributed to a diverse range of multi-disciplinary projects across the United States. In 2022, she founded CRIT Workshop LLC, a certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) and Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) practice that partners with clients nationwide. Through CRIT Workshop, she explores innovative design and planning solutions that promote sustainability, equity, and community well-being.

Balancing teaching, practice, and mentorship, Schultz continues to build bridges between academia and professional practice. Her goal—both in the classroom and through her firm—is to inspire others to create supportive, sustainable, and transformative environments that serve the greater good.
